Dermlite DL100 - Directions for Use

Intended Use

The DermLite DL100 is designed for medical professionals to perform non-invasive visual skin examinations using cross-polarized light.

CAUTION: Do not look directly into the LED light. Patients must close their eyes during examinations.

CAUTION: Not for use in fire- or explosion-prone environments.

WARNING: May expose users to substances known to cause cancer or reproductive harm (e.g., methylene chloride, hexavalent chromium).

Device Overview

The DL100 is a handheld, battery-powered dermatoscope that uses eight 3 mm white LEDs and a 10x magnification lens with cross-polarization.

Operation

  • Position the DermLite DL100 approximately 12 mm (0.5”) from the skin.
  • Use your fingers or the included spacer to maintain optimal distance.
  • Press the power button on the side to activate the LEDs; hold the button to keep light on.
  • Move the device closer or farther from the lesion to focus the image.

Battery Replacement

  • Squeeze the battery cap to remove it along with the battery.
  • Insert a new 2CR5 lithium battery with contacts facing forward.
  • Reattach the battery cap securely.

Battery Details

Use only 2CR5 lithium batteries from DermLite or a trusted retailer. Battery is warranted for 1 year.

Maintenance

CAUTION: Modification of this device is not permitted.

Clean the exterior with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Avoid submerging or autoclaving the device. Clean the lens with standard optical tools.

Warranty

5 years for parts and labor. Battery warranty is 1 year.

Disposal

Dispose of lithium-ion battery and electronic components separately per local regulations.
