Dermlite Handyscope - Directions for Use

Intended Use

The DermLite Handyscope is intended for non-invasive visual examination of intact skin. It is for use by trained healthcare professionals.

CAUTION: Do not look directly into the LED light. Patients should close their eyes during exams.

CAUTION: Do not use in oxygen-rich or explosive-risk environments.

CAUTION: This product contains magnets and is not safe near pacemakers.

WARNING: Do not use with Qi wireless chargers. Heat buildup can cause burns or damage.

WARNING: Contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive harm.

Device Overview

The DermLite Handyscope offers polarized and non-polarized lighting, clinical illumination, and wireless functionality. It pairs with mobile devices for dermatoscopic imaging.

Setup Methods

Using the MagnetiConnect Clamp

  • Position the clamp (MC) over the phone’s camera.
  • Tighten with the knob (KN), then attach the magnetic ring and place the Handyscope.

Using the Adhesive Ring

  • Use only if the phone’s back is not glass.
  • Use the ring applicator to align the 30mm crosshairs.
  • Clean the phone, remove adhesive film, and press firmly into place.
  • Place the Handyscope onto the ring—it will click into position.

Using the DermLite Connection Kit

Compatible kits (sold separately) are available for specific iPhone models.

Using the Handyscope

  • Press the power button (P) to cycle between polarized, non-polarized, and clinical illumination modes.
  • For dermatoscopy, place the glass contact plate (FP) against the skin.
  • Hold the button to turn off manually. Auto shutoff occurs after 3 minutes.

Faceplate and IceCap®

Remove the glass faceplate (FP) by lifting at the fingernail notches (FN). Snap an IceCap (IC) over the faceplate for infection control. Dispose after use.

Wireless Pairing

To connect wirelessly, refer to your Handyscope-compatible app.

Battery and Charging

CAUTION: Use only the 3.7V 670 mAh lithium-ion battery provided by DermLite.

  • Use the included USB-C cable to charge via a 5V USB port.
  • Charge Indicator (CI): Pulsing LEDs show charge progress, all lit when fully charged.

Cleaning & Maintenance

CAUTION: No modifications permitted. Repairs must be performed by qualified service personnel.

Clean the housing with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Do not submerge or autoclave. Use standard lens cleaners on optics.

Warranty

5 years for parts and labor. Battery warranty: 1 year.

Disposal

Dispose of battery and electronics separately per local environmental regulations.
