The DermLite DL5 Plus builds on the same core platform as the highly acclaimed DL5, offering targeted improvements rather than a complete redesign. It takes one of the most capable dermatoscopes available and adds refined illumination and smart connectivity for an even more fluid clinical workflow.
Refined for Enhanced Performance
The DL5 Plus introduces three main refinements to boost your dermoscopy capabilities:
- Significantly Higher UV Output: Delivers ~29.3 mW/cm² of UV energy. This represents a ~2.6x increase in UV energy output compared to the original DL5, leading to much stronger fluorescence visualization.
- Brighter White Light: Upgraded to ~43.2 kLux, providing a ~25-35% increase in white light illuminance for clearer lesion examination.
- Bluetooth Connectivity (iOS Exclusive): Connect seamlessly to the DermLite app on your iPhone or iPad. Bluetooth allows the app to recognize your device, enabling you to use pre-saved workflows and control lighting modes directly from your screen.
- MultiShot via App: When paired with the iOS DermLite app, the DL5 Plus enables MultiShot, allowing you to capture multiple images across different lighting modes (polarized, non-polarized, UV) with a single tap.
- Smarter Energy: Features a new "Vacation Mode" that reduces battery drain during extended periods of non-use.

Which DL5 is Right for You?
The original DL5 remains a strongly capable, industry-leading device. However, the DL5 Plus is highly recommended if:
- You rely heavily on UV dermoscopy and need to visualize fluorescence more easily.
- You utilize an iOS device (iPhone/iPad) in your clinic and want to take advantage of app-based workflows and the MultiShot feature.
(If you are an Android user or do not plan to use smartphone app workflows, the Bluetooth functionality will not provide meaningful added features, and the original DL5 remains an excellent choice.)
